Laird Walker Named Forester Athlete of the Week
Junior averaged 12.7 points and 9.3 rebounds in three games

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Lake Forest College men’s basketball player Laird Walker (Chicago, Ill./Whitney M. Young Magnet) was named Forester Athlete of the Week Thursday (January 25) for his performance in Lake Forest’s three Midwest Conference games, including two victories, in the previous seven days.

Walker, a junior forward, scored 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds in a pair of road victories over the weekend (January 19-20). The team defeated Carroll College 72-70 on Friday night and Ripon College 62-49 on Saturday. Carroll and Ripon entered the weekend tied atop the league standings. In addition to his points and rebounds, Walker added four assists and a steal at Carroll and two blocked shots and a steal at Ripon.

On Tuesday, the Foresters were defeated 55-53 at home by Monmouth College. Walker scored just six points but pulled down a dozen rebounds in the contest.

Walker currently leads Lake Forest with 7.6 rebounds and 1.1 blocked shots per game and ranks second with 11.6 points per contest.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
