JACKSONVILLE, IL - The Lake Forest College men's basketball team traveled to Illinois College on Tuesday (January 9th) and came home with a 67-61 victory. The Foresters are now 3-0 in the Midwest Conference and 8-1 overall on the season with their lone loss coming at the hands of NCAA Division II Lynn University. They won their only game against an NAIA opponent and are a perfect 7-0 against Division III foes. The win also extends their Midwest Conference regular season win streak to 19 games.

Sophomore guard Fred Bell (Mequon, WI/Homestead) scored a game-high 19 points, dished out a game-high 5 assists and added a couple of steals in his 36 minutes of play. Last season's top three-point field goal shooter in the MWC made 3 of his 4 attempts from behind the arc and shot 8-for-12 overall.

For the third consecutive game the Foresters were led in rebounding by junior guard Brian Bruha (Hillsboro, WI/Hillsboro), who pulled down a game-high 9 boards to go with his 9 points and 3 assists. Bruha, who stands just 5'10", has pulled down 26 rebounds in three conference games this season, tying him for the league lead with 8.7 rebounds per MWC contest.

Senior center J.R. Jurecko (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville) continued his hot shooting as he made 6 of 7 field goal attempts and scored 14 points. The Foresters' leading scorer this season is now shooting 61.4% from the field and a staggering 73.7% (28-of-38) in Midwest Conference play.

The game's most glaring statistical difference between the teams came in the category of shooting percentage. The Foresters were 26 of 47 (55.3%) from the field and made one more shot than did Illinois College, despite taking 19 fewer attempts. This season Lake Forest is shooting 50.8% while their opponents have shot just 37.5%.

The Foresters will continue their busy week on Friday (January 12th) when they host Beloit College at 8:00 PM. On Saturday (January 13th), the team will travel to Ripon College for an afternoon game beginning at 4:00 PM.
