LAKE FOREST, IL - The Midwest Conference released its all-conference men’s basketball teams Monday (March 1) and two Foresters made the list. Five players were named to both the First and Second Teams and an additional ten achieved Honorable Mention status.

Junior forward Eric McDonald (Elk Grove, IL/Elk Grove) was a Second Team selection for the second straight year after earning Honorable Mention status as a freshman. McDonald’s 15.3 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest both ranked second on the team, as did his .494 field goal percentage. He also led the squad with 15 blocked shots. After three seasons as a Forester, McDonald ranks 12th in the program’s history with 1,076 career points, eighth with 16.1 points per game, and third with a .557 field goal percentage.

Thirteen of McDonald’s blocked shots came in the 13 conference games in which he played and his 1.0 blocks-per-game average was the third-best mark in the league. He also ranked ninth with 16.4 points and seventh with 6.9 rebounds per MWC contest.

Sophomore forward Franklyn Beckford (Jacksonville, IL/Jacksonville), the team’s leader with 17.0 points and 8.7 rebounds per game, also earned Second Team All-MWC honors. It was his first career all-conference selection. Beckford shot 62.9% from the field on the year, just shy of the best mark (63.2%) in school history. His career field goal percentage of .614 is easily the highest in the program’s record books.

Beckford ranked sixth in the league with 19.0 points and third with 8.7 rebounds per conference game. His .644 field goal percentage in MWC play was the second-best mark in the league and his .758 free throw percentage was 15th.

At least two Lake Forest players have garnered all-conference status each of the last eight seasons but this year marks the first time since 2000 that both have been named to at least the Second Team.
