Eric McDonald and Franklyn Beckford Earn All-Conference Recognition
McDonald named to second team, Beckford an honorable mention

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Midwest Conference announced its all-conference men’s basketball teams Tuesday (March 1) and a pair of Lake Forest College players made the list. Senior forward Eric McDonald (Elk Grove, IL/Elk Grove) was named to the second team and junior forward Franklyn Beckford (Jacksonville, IL/Jacksonville) was an honorable mention selection.

McDonald was second on the team in scoring this season with 12.5 points per contest. He also ranked second in rebounding (5.3 rpg.) and led the team in blocked shots and steals. In four seasons, McDonald has scored 1,346 points, the seventh-highest total in the program’s history. He also ranks fourth in school history with a .548 career field goal percentage. He was an honorable mention selection after his freshman season and has now earned Second Team All-MWC honors each year since.

Beckford led the Foresters with 13.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest. He also matched the single-season school record with a .632 field goal percentage and is the program’s all-time leader, having shot 61.9% from the field in his career. He ranked ninth in the conference this year in both scoring and rebounding during MWC play and led the league with a .704 field goal percentage against fellow MWC opponents. Beckford was a Second Team All-MWC selection in 2003-04.

Lake Forest finished the season with an overall record of 14-10 and an MWC mark of 10-6. The team advanced to the four-team MWC Tournament for the second straight year but was defeated in the semifinals last Friday (February 25).
