After having just one player score in double-figures in each of their first two games, the Foresters had four score at least 10 points against Concordia. Junior guard Lee Taylor's (Sheldon, IA/Sheldon) 17 led the team, and he also added six rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal. Junior guard Fred Bell (Mequon, WI/Homestead) tallied 16 points and added three rebounds, assists and steals. Senior guard Bryan Bertola (Green Bay, WI/Bay Port) made three of six three-point attempts and scored 12 points and freshman forward Eric McDonald (Elk Grove, IL/Elk Grove) chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds. Lake Forest led 28-26 after a first half that featured five ties and as many lead changes. The largest lead for either team before halftime was four points. A 10-2 Forester run to open the second period gave the home team a 10-point lead (38-28) that was quickly down to four points after a 6-0 run by the Falcons. Concordia cut the lead to three points (48-45) with 5:48 to play before seven straight points helped the Foresters regain control of the game. Lake Forest made six of eight free throws in the final 1:02 to preserve the victory. In the early semifinal, Webster University defeated Eureka College 63-53. At 1:00 pm tomorrow (November 25th), Eureka and Concordia will play for third place in the tournament and the Midwest Challenge Championship game between Lake Forest and Webster will follow at 3:00 pm.
