Athletic Training Michael Gilboe has been the Foresters' Head Athletic Trainer since the fall of 2001 after coming over from a short stint with Condell Medical Center. Mike worked with their out-patient therapy services department and was part-time with Lake Forest College. Mike has become well known at the college for his great passion for athletic training. Growing up in Jacksonville, Arkansas he attended Jacksonville High School where he began his future career helping as a student manager with the football and basketball teams. After high school he went on to obtain an undergraduate degree in Physical Education-Athletic Training/Exercise Science from Arkansas State University . Graduate School brought him to Illinois State University , where, as a graduate assistant, he covered football, track and field, and was also a graduate instructor in the physical education department. After graduation, Mike became the Assistant Athletic Trainer at his alma mater, Arkansas State University , where he was primary area of responsibility was the Men's Basketball Team. He also helped oversee 12 additional sports, along with supervision of undergraduate and graduate student athletic trainers and also served as an instructor in the Department of Health, Physical Education and Sport Sciences. The Lake Forest Athletic Staff and student-athletes know Mike for his outstanding people skills and his pride in Lake Forest College Athletics. He can often be found putting in extra hours in the athletic training room to accommodate the student-athletes busy schedules. Mike keeps no secrets about his favorite part of the job, “Game Day”. Mike is an adjunct professor in the education department at Lake Forest College , teaching Introduction to Athletic Training, Concepts of Health Education, CPR and First Aid Mike is an American Red Cross instructor; he is also certified by the NATABOC and is a licensed athletic trainer in the state of Illinois . He is a member of the National, Great Lakes , and Illinois Athletic Trainers Association. Mike and his wife Kim reside in Wadsworth with their sons Aiden and Blake. Team Physician Roger Chams, MD
