Marian Higginbotham (Niles) '66
Growing up in Dallas, Texas, Marian attended The Hockaday School.  She played basketball, field hockey, volleyball and swam competitively.  She was also president of the Student Council.

She entered Lake Forest in 1962 and played field hockey and basketball all four years.  Her freshmen year Marian was instrumental in forming the College's first women's intercollegiate basketball team.  With guidance from Harriet Jauch, she and several of her classmates and upperclassmen were able to play several games against local colleges and universities, including Northwestern University.  The team was undefeated for several years.  Marian also served as president of the Women's Recreation Association.

Graduating with a degree in biology, Marian worked at the Columbia Nursery school in New York City.  She then went to West Africa to work as a nurse with Biafran refugee children for the International Red Cross program.  Marian later pursued a career at Children's Hospital in Los Angeles, California.  She was the founding director and chairman of the board for the non-profit preschool in Santa Monica.  Marian served her alma mater as chairman of the class of '66 25th Reunion Fund Campaign.
