Melvin F. Rouse '37
Growing up in Mundelein, Illinois, Mel attended Libertyville High School.  He played baseball, basketball and football.

He entered Lake Forest in 1933 and earned twelve letters for four years of participation in baseball, basketball and football.  Melvin was a member of Digamma Alpha Upsilon, the Stentor, and the L.F. Club. 

Graduating with a degree in history, Melvin became the manager of Libertyville Home Dairy.  In 1943 he enlisted in the U.S. Army.  He went overseas during World War II and fought in General Patton's army.  He was killed in Germany while in action.  Melvin was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously.
