Foresters Defeated by St. Olaf and Carleton at ACM 50th Anniversary Classic
Robbie Weis scores first career goal in season opener


NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Lake Forest College men's soccer team fell in both of its games at the Associated Colleges of the Midwest 50th Anniversary Classic over the weekend (August 30-31). The Foresters began their season with a 2-1 loss to St. Olaf College on Saturday before dropping a 3-0 decision to host Carleton College on Sunday.

St. Olaf started the scoring on Saturday at the 34-minute mark and doubled its lead less than four minutes into the second half. Lake Forest pulled to within a score in the 54th minute when freshman Robbie Weis (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) scored his first career goal off an assist from senior Ben Levy (Lincoln, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury). Niether team was able to score again. Lake Forest senior goalkeeper Sam Malmberg (Concord, N.H./St. Paul's School) finished the game with six saves.

Malmberg had six saves again on Sunday against Carleton, which took the lead in the 40th minute and added a goal at 62:13 and another just 77 seconds later.

The Foresters will play their home opener against North Central College Tuesday (September 2) at 4:30 p.m. and will begin Midwest Conference play Saturday afternoon (September 6) at 3:30 at Knox College .
