Ed Elliott Named MVP of 2001 Season
Mike Lanphier earns MIP honors
  

Ed Elliott was named the team's Most Valuable Player.
LAKE FOREST, IL - Forester head men's soccer coach Ed Kositzki announced his team's special award winners Sunday (December 2nd) afternoon at the Lake Forest College Fall Sports Awards Ceremony at the 1st Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest.

Junior goalkeeper Ed Elliott (Decatur, IL/Culver Military Academy-IN) was named the team's Most Valuable Player. Elliott recorded five shutouts during the season and had a goals against average of 1.09. He tallied 79 saves on the year and helped the Foresters to a 10-7 record and their 14th Midwest Conference Championship in 28 years. Elliott was voted second-team all-conference.

Freshman defender Mike Lanphier (Denver, CO/East) was chosen as the team's Most Improved Player. Lanphier saw his first action of the season in the Foresters' ninth game. Two games later, he found himself in the starting line-up, where he stayed for the rest of the year. Lanphier scored his first career goal on October 21st in Lake Forest's 2-1 MWC Championship-clinching victory at Ripon College.

Approximately 200 people were in attendance for this year's awards ceremony. Awards were handed out to all varsity letter-winners from the school's six fall sports - men's soccer, football, women's soccer, volleyball, cross country and women's tennis.
