Five Foresters Named All-Conference For Men's Soccer
Head Coach Ed Kositzki selected co-Coach of the Year

LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College garnered five members, including three First Teamers, on the 2000 All-Midwest Conference men's soccer teams.

Dan Carver (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield), Steve Leroux (Hudson, Quebec/Choate Rosemary Hall (CT)), and Matt Spurlin (Littleton, CO/Bear Creek) were First Team picks, while Chris Mickschl (Glendale, WI/Nicolet) and Ed Elliott (Decatur, IL/Culver Military Academy (IN)) were selected to the Second Team. Forester Head Coach Ed Kositzki was named the league's co-Coach of the Year along with Ripon's Billy Swartz.

Carver, a freshman forward, finished second in the conference for scoring with 21 points (10 goals, one assist). He did so in just six games after missing the team's first three MWC games with an injury. For the season, Carver led the team in scoring and goals with 29 and 13, respectively. He added three assists (tied for third on the team) and four of his goals were game-winners.

Leroux, a senior defenseman, tallied three goals and three assists on the season. His nine points were the fifth-highest total on the team.

Spulin, a senior defenseman, appeared in and started 17 of the team's 18 games and scored one goal on the year. This is the third straight year that Spurlin has been an All-Conference selection. He was named to the Second Team in 1998 and the First Team in 1999. Spurlin was named Lake Forest's Most Valuable Player in 1998 and 1999.

Mickschl, a junior forward, was sixth in the conference with 12 points (five goals, two assists). He was second on the team with 17 points (seven goals and three assists) for the season. His seven goals were second on the squad and his three assists were tied for the third-highest total on the team. Mickschl was a Second Team All-MWC selection as a freshman in 1998.

Elliott, a sophomore goalkeeper, appeared in 15 of the team's 18 games with 13 starts. In 1,080 minutes he allowed just 12 goals with 54 saves. His 1.00 goals against average and .818 save percentage led the team. Elliott compiled a 9-3-0 overall record, including five shutouts, on the year. During nine MWC games, he recorded four shutouts and a 0.82 goals against average.

Kositzki led the team to a 12-6-0 overall record this season. Lake Forest finished the conference regular season with an 8-1-0 record and won their final eight league games. The Foresters were knocked off, 4-0, at Ripon in the conference championship match to finish as the MWC's runner-up.

Kositzki owns a 78-40-2 career coaching record, including a 50-16-0 mark in the MWC, during his seven seasons at Lake Forest. This year's MWC Coach of the Year award is the third of his career. He also won the award in 1995 and 1996. Lake Forest won MWC titles during both those seasons.
