Four Foresters Earn All-Midwest Conference Honors
Walter Echeverry and Sam Figueroa named to first team

LAKE FOREST, IL - The 2004 All-Midwest Conference men’s soccer teams were released Tuesday (November 16) and four Foresters made the list, led by junior Sam Figueroa (Bartlett, IL/Bartlett) and sophomore Walter Echeverry (Glenview, IL/Maine Township East), who were each named to the league’s first team.

Figueroa (seven goals, three assists) and Echeverry (five goals, seven assists) were tied for second on the team with 17 points on the season. Figueroa also ranked tied-for-second in the conference in goals and tied-for-third in points during league play. Echeverry tied for fifth in the conference in assists during MWC games, despite sitting out one of the team’s nine league contests.

Senior John Karner (Gurnee,IL/Warren Township) and junior Alex Lofgren (Glenview, IL/Glenbrook South) each earned second team honors. Karner recorded 10 points on three goals and four assists during the season. Lofgren's two goals and five assists gave him nine points.

It marked the fifth consecutive season and the 23rd since Lake Forest joined the MWC in 1974 that the team has had at least four all-conference selections.
