Lake Forest Reaches MWC Tournament with Win over Ripon
Chase and Teisl each record a goal and an assist

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Forester men's soccer team defeated Ripon College at home Saturday (November 2) by a score of 4-0. With the victory, Lake Forest has clinched a berth in the Midwest Conference Tournament for the fifth straight year and 12th in the last 13. The Foresters finish the regular season with a 9-7-0 overall record and a 6-3-0 mark in the league. Ripon falls to 3-12-0 overall and 2-7-0 in the MWC.

Junior Steve Teisl (Chardon, OH/Gilmour Academy) started the scoring just over five minutes into the game with his fourth goal of the year. Fellow junior Dan Carver (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) recorded the assist, his team-high eighth of the season.

Lake Forest struck again in the 12th minute with junior Caleb Chase's (Hanover, NH/Vermont Academy) team-leading 11th score of the year. Teisl was credited with an assist, his sixth.

Chase got his sixth assist of 2002 early in the second half on freshman Michael Freed's (Pomona, CA/Webb School of California) second goal of the season.

The Foresters added a final insurance goal when sophomore Andy Moore (Geneseo, IL/J.D. Darnall) off a pass from Matt Deimler (Wadsworth, IL/Warren Township). It was Moore's fourth goal and Deimler's fourth assist of the season.

Lake Forest will be the #4 seed in next weekend's (November 8-9) conference tourney and will play 2002 MWC Champion St. Norbert College in the semifinals at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. The winner will play either Carroll College or Beloit College in the finals at 12:00 noon on Saturday. Saturday's winner will receive the MWC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
