Foresters Finish 2008 with a Loss and a Tie at Home
Nelson Dorvlo scores three times on the weekend

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Lake Forest College men's soccer team completed the 2008 season with a pair of Midwest Conference home games over the weekend (November 1-2). The Foresters fell 4-3 to Illinois College on Saturday before playing to a 1-1 tie with Monmouth College on Sunday. Lake Forest finished the season with a 4-13-1 overall record and 3-5-1 mark in league play.

Illinois College jumped out the to early lead on Saturday with a goal less than five minutes into the contest and another at 17:58. Neither team was able to score for the rest of the first half.

The Foresters pulled to within a goal on senior Steve Stavropoulos' (Vernon Hills, Ill./Stevenson) third score of the season just 58 seconds into the second period. They tied the game at 60:04 when freshman Andrew Glass (Colorado Springs, Colo./ Cheyenne Mountain) assisted classmate Nelson Dorvlo (St. Louis, Mo./University City). The Blueboys scored at 66:31 and 78:24 and Dorvlo's second goal of the contest with 8:45 left on the clock turned out to be the game's final tally.

Lake Forest and Monmouth held each other scoreless for more than 50 minutes to start Sunday's game before netting goals within 90 seconds of one another. Dorvlo scored the tying goal for Lake Forest at 54:04. It was is fourth of the season and assisted by Stavropoulos.

Neither team scored again. Forester senior goalkeeper Sam Malmberg (Concord, N.H./St. Paul's School) closed out his career with a four-save performance.

In addition to Stavropoulos and Malmberg, fellow seniors Erik Bene (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest), Andi Keca (Bloomingdale, Ill./Addison Trail), Eder Jaramillo (Grayslake, Ill.), Rob Palutsis (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest), and Ben Levy (Lincoln, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury) were recognized before their final collegiate game. They combined for 99 points on 36 goals and 27 assists and added 142 saves in their careers.
