Elperin and Stavropoulos Sweep MWC Performer of the Week Honors
Duo led Lake Forest to three shutout victories

LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College men’s soccer players Steven Stavropoulos (Vernon Hills, IL/Stevenson) and Jacob Elperin (Highland Park, IL/Lake Forest Academy) were named Midwest Conference Offensive and Defensive Performers of the Week, respectively, on Monday (October 10). The Foresters recorded three shutout victories in the last seven days, including two over fellow league members.

Stavropoulos, a freshman forward, scored both goals Tuesday (October 4) in a 2-0 victory over visiting Marian College. Elperin, a sophomore goalkeeper, played more than 64 of the game’s 90 minutes in goal during the shutout and made four saves.

On Saturday (October 8), Lake Forest hosted and defeated Grinnell College 4-0. Stavropolous assisted on the team’s second and third goals and Elperin played the entire game to earn the shutout.

Finally, on Sunday (October 9), the Foresters came out on top of a 1-0 decision at Beloit College to raise their conference record to 3-3-0 and remain in the race for one of the four spots in the MWC Tournament. Stavropoulos scored the contest’s only goal and Elperin recorded three saves to extend his scoreless streak to 272:34.

Stavropoulos now ranks third on the team with 11 points on four goals and three assists. Elperin owns a 7-2-0 record and a paltry 0.65 goals against average.
