Men's Soccer Wins Fifth Straight With 3-1 Win Over UW-Platteville
Foresters, Nawrocki Finish Nine Seconds Away From Shutout Win

LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College won for the fifth straight game as they defeated visiting UW-Platteville, 3-1, on Sunday (October 1st) in men's soccer non-conference action.

After starting the season 0-2-0, Lake Forest (5-2-0) rattled off wins in the next five games, outscoring their opponents 16-3 during their winning streak. The team's current winning streak is the longest since 1988 when they won five in a row from October 3-11.

On Sunday, the Foresters came within nine seconds of a shutout victory. A Tommy Linstroth penalty kick got Platteville (1-8-0) on the scoreboard.

Adam Nawrocki (Bayside, WI/Nicolet) evened his season record at 1-1-0 by allowing just the one goal and recording seven saves.

Lake Forest jumped out a 2-0 lead during the game's first 16 minutes with a goal from each of the Mickschl twins. Chris Mickschl (Glendale, WI/Nicolet) scored his fourth goal of the season, assisted by Dan Carver (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield), on a break-away through ball in the 12th minute. Chad Mickschl (Glendale, WI/Nicolet) scored on a low cross from brother Chris in the 15th minute. 

Matt Spurlin (Littleton, CO/Bear Creek) put in a Mike Munson (Williston, VT/Champlain Valley Union) shot off the post in the 56th minute for Lake Forest's final score. It was Spurlin's first goal of the season.

Lake Forest will be back in action for two games this weekend. On Saturday (October 7th), the Foresters will travel to Grinnell, IA for a showdown with Grinnell College. LF and Grinnell are currently tied for second place in the Midwest Conference with 4-1-0 records. On Sunday, Lake Forest will host Beloit College in another conference match-up.
