Foresters Record a Win and a Tie on the Weekend
Team ties Grinnell at home, wins at Beloit

Andrew Cochran leads the team with seven goals this year.
BELOIT, WI - The Forester men's soccer team played a pair of Midwest Conference games over the weekend (October 11-12) and came away with a win and a tie. Lake Forest hosted Grinnell College on Saturday and both teams had one goal in regulation. Neither was able to score in either of the two ten-minute overtime periods and the game ended in a 1-1 tie. On Sunday, the Foresters scored three second-half goals at Beloit College in their 3-2 triumph. Lake Forest is now 9-2-1 overall on the year and 4-1-1 in the MWC. Grinnell is 4-5-2 overall and 2-2-2 in the league while Beloit fell to 6-5-0 and 3-2-0.

After just over 70 minutes of scoreless soccer on Saturday, Grinnell's Daniel Cochrane converted a penalty kick opportunity to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead. That was the only score Forester freshman goalkeeper Pat Witwicki (Lake Villa, IL/Antioch), who recorded seven saves in the game, would allow. He now has a 3-1-1 record on the year with a save percentage of .833 and goals against average of 0.99.

The Forester offense rebounded just eight minutes later when senior midfielder Matt Deimler (Wadsworth, IL/Warren Township) tied the game off a pass from fellow senior midfielder Evan Klaus (Belvedere, CA/Brooks School). Deimler's score was his sixth of the year, tying him with a pair of other Foresters for the highest total on the team, and Klaus leads the squad with five assists.

On Sunday, a goal at the 9:45 mark by Beloit's Sandile Nukuna put the Foresters in an early hole. Neither team was able to score the rest of the first half.

Lake Forest tied the game at 51:06 on sophomore defender Alex Lofgren's (Glenview, IL/Glenbrook South) first career goal. Steve Teisl was credited with the assist. Teisl then put the visitors ahead with his fourth score of the season at 58:23 off a pass from freshman forward Walter Echeverry (Glenview, IL/Maine Township East). After Beloit tied the score on an Aaron Whetstone goal in the 77th minute, junior forward Andrew Cochran (Bedford, NH/Derryfield School) scored the game-winner at 82:56. Deimler assisted on the score, Cochran's team-leading seventh of the year.

Sophomore Brad Rathe (Deer Park, IL//Lake Zurich) tallied seven saves to raise his record to 2-0-0.

The Foresters will go on the road for a pair of MWC games next weekend (October 18-19). The team will play at Illinois College (2-8-0, 0-4-0 MWC) at 3:00 Saturday afternoon and at Monmouth College (4-4-2, 2-2-0) Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
