Men's Soccer Wins Seventh Straight MWC Game With 3-1 Win
Carver's Two Goals Lift Lake Forest Over Monmouth

LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead and held on for a 3-1 win over visiting Monmouth College (IL) in a Midwest Conference men's soccer match-up on Saturday (October 14th).

After starting the MWC season with a 4-0 loss to Ripon College, Lake Forest (8-3-0, 7-1-0 MWC) has won seven straight games in league play and eight of their last nine contests. During the team's conference winning streak, the Foresters have outscored their opponents 23-5 and have allowed more than one goal just once.

Monmouth (5-5-0, 2-3-0 MWC) fell below .500 in the MWC.

Freshman Dan Carver (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) gave the Foresters an early lead with a goal, assisted by Steve Leroux (Hudson, Quebec/Choate Rosemary Hall (CT)), just four-and-a-half minutes into the game.

Chris Mickschl (Glendale, WI/Nicolet) scored his sixth goal of the season with just over five minutes to play in the half to give Lake Forest a 2-0 cushion going into the halftime break. Evan Klaus (Belvedere, CA) recorded the assist.

Monmouth's Zach Hampton got credit for a goal in the 63rd minute for being the last MC player to touch the ball, which made its way to the back of the net off the foot of a Lake Forest player as the Foresters' lead was cut in half.

Carver gave the Foresters an insurance goal in the 86th minute to cap the game's scoring. Chad Mickschl (Glendale, WI/Nicolet) picked up his team-leading fourth assist of the season.

Carver has scored eight goals and 18 points in seven games this season.

Ed Elliott (Decatur, IL/Culver Military Academy (IN)) recorded three saves and allowed just one goal to improve his season record to 7-1-0. Joel Cowan had 10 saves in defeat for Monmouth.

Lake Forest will return to action tomorrow when they host Illinois College at 1:00.
