BELOIT, Wis. - The Lake Forest College men’s soccer team dropped a pair of one-goal decisions over the weekend (October 13-14). The Foresters fell 3-2 in double-overtime to visiting Grinnell College on Saturday and 2-1 at Beloit College on Sunday. The team is now 3-9-0 overall and 1-5-0 in Midwest Conference play this season. Grinnell raised its record to 8-4-1 overall and 6-1-0 in the league and Beloit climbed to 4-7-2 overall and 2-4-1 in the MWC.

Grinnell’s goal in the 20th minute was the only score of the first half on Saturday.

The Foresters tied the game on junior Ben Levy’s (Lincoln, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury) goal in the 55th minute and took the lead less than seven minutes later when senior Attila Schmidt (Akron, Ohio/Western Reserve) deflected the ball into the net. Senior Josh Enck (Antioch, Ill./Antioch) assisted on Levy’s third goal of the year and junior Erik Bene (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest) earned the assist on the goal by Schmidt, who also has three this season.

The Pioneers, however, evened the score at two goals apiece in the 78th minute and scored the game winner in the 107th minute.

Beloit got on the scoreboard at the 9:29 mark of Sunday’s contest and doubled the lead at 28:30.

An own-goal in the 49th minute cut the Foresters’ deficit to 2-1 but the visitors would get no closer.

Lake Forest will play a pair of league games on the road next weekend (October 20-21). The Foresters will take on Illinois College Saturday at 2:00 and Monmouth College Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
