Jacob Elperin
Lake Forest, Ill. – The Lake Forest College men’s soccer team played to a scoreless tie at Grinnell College on Saturday (October 14) and fell 3-0 to Beloit College at home the following afternoon. The Foresters fell to 5-6-1 overall on the season and 2-3-1 in Midwest Conference play. Grinnell is now 7-2-4 overall and 5-0-2 in the league. Beloit raised its record to 7-2-1 overall and 6-1-0 in MWC play.

Junior Jacob Elperin (Highland Park, Ill./Lake Forest Academy) recorded the shutout, the team’s third of the season, on Saturday. He needed just one save in the contest to blank the Pioneers. It was the first 0-0 tie in a Lake Forest game since September 15, 1990.

After a scoreless opening period on Sunday, Beloit finally broke through for what turned out to be the game winner nine minutes into the second half. The Buccaneers added insurance goals at 62:29 and 79:08 to clinch the victory.

The Foresters will host two more league games next weekend (October 21-22). They will take on Monmouth College Saturday afternoon at 3:30 and Illinois College Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
