Lawrence Gives Lake Forest Third MWC Defeat of the Season
Loss tightens league standings

LAKE FOREST, IL - Nobody could blame the Forester men's soccer team for looking forward to Sunday's (October 21st) match at four-time defending Midwest Conference Champion Ripon College, except that the team still had to play Saturday (October 20th) at home against Lawrence University. The Vikings upset the Foresters 2-1 and tightened up the race for first in the league standings.

Lawrence scored the only goal of the first half in the 35th minute, putting the Vikings ahead 1-0.

Lake Forest tied the score on a penalty kick by senior midfielder Chad Mickschl (Glendale, WI/Nicolet) just over two minutes into the second half. The goal was the first of the season for Mickschl and the 10th of his career.

The visitors went back on top just over twelve minutes later and both teams went without a goal for the game's final 30 minutes.

The Foresters fall to 7-6-0 overall on the year and, more importantly, drop to 5-3-0 in the conference. Carroll College, Ripon College, Monmouth College and Grinnell College also have three league losses. With just one MWC game left, the Foresters could still finish in first place or could drop out of the top four, who will play in the MWC Tournament on November 2nd and 3rd.
