LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College men's soccer team shut out Illinois College at home Sunday (October 20) by a score of 3-0. The win came less than 24 hours after knocking off Monmouth College and vaulted the Foresters into third place in the Midwest Conference standings at 5-3-0. Lake Forest has an overall record of 7-6-0. The Blueboys's overall record falls to 4-9-0 and their league mark drops to 2-4-0.

As he did the day before, junior forward Dan Carver (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) scored the game's first goal. His fourth of the season came off a pass from junior Steve Teisl (Chardon, OH/Gilmour Academy) at the 16:30 mark.

Less than five minutes later (21:14), sophomore Victor Pacheco (Highland Park, IL/Highland Park) scored his first goal of 2002. Junior Caleb Chase (Hanover, NH/Vermont Academy) earned the assist, his fourth of the year.

Pacheco recorded his first assist of the season just less than ten minutes later (31:07) on junior Matt Deimler's (Wadsworth, IL/Warren Township) first goal as a Forester.

Senior goalkeeper Ed Elliott (Decatur, IL/Culver Military Academy-IN) needed just a pair of saves to record the shutout.

Lake Forest trails St. Norbert (6-1-0) and Beloit (5-1-2) in the MWC standings. Carroll (4-2-1) and Monmouth (3-2-1) are just below the Foresters. The top four teams at the end of the nine-game league schedule will advance to the MWC Tournament, with the top team being declared conference champion and awarded the right to host the tourney.

The next match on Lake Forest's schedule is a non-conference game at home against Aurora University on Wednesday (October 23) at 4:00 p.m. After playing at UW-Whitewater on Saturday (October 26), the Foresters will end their regular season with a home match against MWC foe Ripon College the following Saturday (November 2).
