Lake Forest Wins 2-1 at Illinois College and Monmouth

Illinois College scored the only goal of Saturday’s first half with just two minutes to play in the period.

Forester junior Rob Palutsis (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest) evened the score in the 58th minute with assists credited to juniors Steve Stavropoulos (Vernon Hills, Ill./Stevenson) and Ben Levy (Lincoln, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury). Palutsis then scored the game winner in the 89th minute off an assist from senior Attila Schmidt (Akron, Ohio/Western Reserve). It was Palutsis’ fourth goal and second two-goal game of the season.

Freshman goalkeeper Tom Biesiada (Grayslake, Ill./Grayslake Central) played the second half of the game, recorded one save, and earned his first career victory. He also came in to start the second half and played the rest of the game to earn the win on Sunday.

Levy scored both of the Foresters’ goals on Sunday, the first just 7:14 into the contest and the second 4:34 into the second overtime. Sophomore Andrew Merz (Wentzville, Mo./Timberland) and freshman Adam Johnson (Rockton, Ill./Honohegah) assisted on the first score and sophomore David Jo (Seoul, Korea/Stevenson) the second, Levy’s fifth of the year.

Lake Forest will play its final conference game of the year Wednesday (October 24) night at 7:30 at Carroll College before closing out the season at home Saturday (October 27) at 10:00 a.m. against North Park University.
