Carver and Spurlin Named MWC Players of the Week
Second time in three weeks that Lake Forest sweeps league honors

LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College men's soccer players Dan Carver (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) and Matt Spurlin (Littleton, CO/Bear Creek) have been selected as the Midwest Conference men's soccer offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively.

It was the third and fourth time a Forester men's soccer player had been honored this season and the second time in the last three weeks that Lake Forest had won both the offensive and defensive awards in the same week.

Carver, a first-year forward, led Lake Forest to a 2-0-0 record for the week. Saturday (September 30th) he scored on two of his eight shots during a 6-0 win over Lawrence. The following day, Carver registered ten shots and one assist in a 3-1 win against UW-Platteville.

Matt Spurlin anchored the Forester defense that shut out Lawrence on Saturday, holding them to just five shots (one on goal), and held UW-Platteville to one goal.

The Midwest Conference Players of the Week are selected by league's Sports Information Directors.
