Andy Moore scored the first three goals of his career.
LAKE FOREST, IL - The Forester men's soccer team routed Aurora University 9-1 at home Wednesday (October 23) afternoon. The nine goals scored by Lake Forest is the team's highest single-game output since it defeated Ripon College 9-0 in 1995. The Foresters' overall record is now 8-6-0.

Aurora, whose record fell to 1-19-0 on the year, shocked Lake Forest with the game's first goal after just 15 seconds of play. However, the Spartans would manage only three shots the rest of the game.

Forward Caleb Chase (Hanover, NH/Vermont Academy) put the Foresters on the scoreboard with his first goal of the game at the 14:40 mark. Fellow forward Dan Carver (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) earned the assist. Chase and Evan Klaus (Belvedere, CA/Brooks School) then assisted on Carver's fifth goal of the season at 21:29. The trio of juniors struck again approximately a minute-and-a-half later, with Chase scoring his tenth of the year. Klaus earned his second assist of the game and season while Carver also recorded his second of the match and team-high seventh of 2002.

Four Foresters recorded the first goals of their collegiate careers in the game. Sophomore Andy Moore (Geneseo, IL/J.D. Darnall) actually scored the first three goals of his career, one in the 40th minute and two more after intermission. Freshman Michael Freed (Pomona, CA/Webb School of California), who was playing in just his second game of the year, also scored just before halftime (40:56). In the second period, sophomore Alex Stavrapolous (Vernon Hills, IL/Stevenson) and junior Jose Valdovinos (Chicago, IL/Lane Tech) each found the back of the net for the first time as Foresters. Moore, Stavropolous, and Valdovinos each added an assist in the game as well.

Lake Forest will travel to Wisconsin to take on UW-Whitewater on Saturday (October 26) at 2:30 p.m. The Foresters' final regular season game will be against Ripon College at home next Saturday. Lake Forest is 5-3-0 in Midwest Conference play this year. The Foresters will advance to the four-team conference tournament if they defeat Ripon and either Monmouth, Beloit or Carroll loses any of their combined six remaining matches.
