Lake Forest Notches Crucial Victory at Carroll
Foresters finish MWC schedule with 5-2-2 record

WAUKESHA, WI - The Forester men's soccer team won an important Midwest Conference match at Carroll College Thursday (October 23). The 2-0 victory raised Lake Forest's overall record to 10-3-2 and its league mark to 5-2-2. Carroll fell to 5-7-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the MWC.
 
Freshman Pat Witwicki (Lake Villa, IL/Antioch) recorded three saves in the first half as Carroll out-shot the Foresters 7-5 in the period.

The game was scoreless until senior midfielder Steve Teisl (Chardon, OH/Gilmour Academy) scored his sixth goal of the season in the game's 66th minute. Freshman Michael Watman (Flossmoor, IL/Mount Carmel) was credited with the assist, his first career point. Freshman Chris Georgen (St. Louis, MO/Crossroads School) scored for the second time this year just three minutes later off assists from senior midfielder Matt Deimler (Wadsworth, IL/Warren Township) and junior midfielder John Karner (Gurnee,IL/Warren Township).

Lake Forest attempted seven shots in the second half while the Pioneers tried just three. Witwicki had two more saves in the second period to finish off the team's fourth shutout of the year.

The Foresters have just one more game on its regular season schedule, a non-conference match next Saturday (November 1) against UW-Whitewater. With a 5-2-2 league record, Lake Forest is likely to qualify for one of the four spots in the Midwest Conference Tournament on November 7-8.
