Lake Forest Finishes Regular Season With 1-0 Win Over Kendall

Steve Teisl scored the only goal of Tuesday's win over Kendall.
LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College men's soccer team will enter the Midwest Conference Tournament, which they will host this weekend (November 2-3rd), having won its last regular season game on Tuesday (October 30th) over Kendall College by the score of 1-0. The Foresters record now stands at 9-6-0.

The game's only goal came in the 27th minute when senior midfielder Chad Mickschl (Glendale, WI/Nicolet) sent a free kick from the right side to sophomore midfielder Steve Teisl (Chardon, OH/Gilmour Academy), who used his head to knock the ball past the Kendall goalie. The score was Teisl's sixth of the season and the assist was number three in 2001 for Mickschl.

Junior goalkeeper Ed Elliott (Decatur, IL/Culver Military Academy-IN) needed just three saves to notch his fourth shutout of the year. Kendall managed only seven shot attempts compared to 19 for the Foresters.

Conference champion Lake Forest will host the 2001 MWC Tournament on Friday and Saturday (November 2-3rd). Friday's first semifinal will begin at 11:00 am and will feature the number two seed, Carroll College, and the number three seed, Monmouth College. The top-seeded Foresters will play in the 1:30 semifinal against Ripon College, the tournament's fourth seed. Friday's winners will play for the MWC's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship Tournament on Saturday at 12:00 noon.
