Foresters Defeat Benedictine for Third Straight Victory
Caleb Chase scores two goals and adds an assist
  

Caleb Chase leads the team with five goals this season.
LAKE FOREST, IL - After a difficult start to the season, the Forester men's soccer team has strung together three consecutive victories after defeating Benedictine University 3-1 at home on Saturday (October 5). The non-Midwest Conference win raised Lake Forest's overall record to 4-5-0.

Junior forward Caleb Chase (Hanover, NH/Vermont Academy) got the home team on the scoreboard first with his team-leading fourth goal of the season at the game's 16:01 mark. Fellow junior forwardDan Carver (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) set up the score with a beautiful pass around the Eagles' goalie, leaving Chase with a clear shot at the goal.

The Foresters' second score came early in the second half (51:14) and was also scored by Chase. Junior midfielder Steve Teisl (Chardon, OH/Gilmour Academy) recorded his first assist of the year on Chase's fifth goal of 2002.

Slightly more than three minutes later, Carver scored his second goal of the year off a pass from Chase, who notched his first assist.

Benedictine finally scored its only goal of the game with just 30 seconds to play, breaking up senior Ed Elliott's (Decatur, IL/Culver Military Academy-IN) shutout bid.

The Foresters will take their 2-2-0 MWC mark on the road Saturday (October 12) when they travel to Grinnell College for a 1:30 p.m. game against the Pioneers. Lake Forest will be in action again on Sunday (October 13) with a 3:00 p.m. match at home against Beloit College.
