Men's Soccer Wins Sixth Straight With 4-0 Win at Grinnell
Three second half goals propel Lake Forest to victory 

GRINNELL, IA - Lake Forest College blanked Grinnell College, 4-0, on Saturday (October 7th) in Midwest Conference men's soccer action to claim their sixth straight overall win and fifth straight conference victory. 

After starting the season with two losses, Lake Forest (6-2-0, 5-1-0 MWC) has outscored their opponents 20-4 during their six game winning streak. The Foresters are now alone in second place in the MWC, trailing only Ripon College, who beat LF, 4-0, on September 9th. 

Grinnell (7-4-0, 5-2-0 MWC) slipped into third place in the conference with the loss. 

Freshman Caleb Chase (Hanover, NH) scored the only goal of the first half in the 29th minute. It was first career goal for Chase. 

Lake Forest broke the game open the second half with a goal by freshman Dan Carver (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield), assisted by Troy Abeln (Bloomington, MN/Bloomington Kennedy), in the 60th minute. It was Carver's team-high fifth goal of the season.

Less than 14 minutes later, Chris Mickschl (Glendale, WI/Nicolet) re-tied Carver for the team lead in goals when he scored in the 74th minute. Carver recorded the assist for his team-leading 13th point of the season. 

Chad Mickschl (Glendale, WI/Nicolet) scored the game's final goal, assisted by Steve Leroux (Hudson, Quebec/Choate Rosemary Hall (CT)), in the 79th minute.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ed Elliott (Decatur, IL/Culver Military Academy (IN)) stopped three shots on goal to record his third shutout of the season and lower his goals against average to 0.83. Elliott has recorded shutouts in two of the team's last three games. All three of Elliott's shutouts have come against MWC teams.

Lake Forest will return to action tomorrow when they host MWC opponent Beloit College at 3:00.
