Men's Soccer Records Seventh Straight Win With 3-1 Win Over Beloit
Three freshman score one goal apiece for Lake Forest

Dan Carver scored the game-winning goal for Lake Forest on Sunday.
LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College scored two goals during a 59 second stretch, the last goal coming with just over nine minutes to play, to break a 1-1 tie and claim a 3-1 win over visiting Beloit College on Sunday (October 8th) during a Midwest Conference men's soccer contest.

It was the seventh straight victory for Lake Forest (7-2-0, 6-1-0 MWC), the longest winning streak since Lake Forest won its last 13 games of the 1995 season and its first two in 1996 for a 15-game winning streak. The Foresters finished the 1996 season on a seven-game non-losing streak, going 6-0-1 during that span. Lake Forest won MWC titles in both 1995 and 1996, the second and third seasons under Head Coach Ed Kositzki.

On Sunday versus Beloit, freshman Evan Klaus (Belvedere, CA) scored the game's first goal, assisted by freshman Steve Teisl (Chardon, OH/Gilmour Academy), in the 27th minute on a one-timer.

Beloit (3-6-0, 2-3-0) answered with a goal from Mike Flanagan, assisted by Chris Wetland, in the 52nd minute.

The BC goal snapped a 351 minute scoreless streak for LF goalkeeper Ed Elliott (Decatur, IL/Culver Military Academy (IN)), who has a 0.85 goals against average this year.

Freshman Dan Carver (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) scored the Forester's go-ahead goal, assisted by Chris Mickschl (Glendale, WI/Nicolet) in the 79th minute. Carver has scored a team-high six goals in just five games. After missing the team's first four games with an injury, Carver has recorded a point in every game of his short college career and scored a goal in all but one contest.

Michschl has established a similar streak. After being held without a goal or an assist in Lake Forest's first three games, Mickschl has scored at least one point in the team's last six games, including a stretch of five consecutive games with a goal. He has tallied 13 points during the last six games.

Fifty-nine seconds later, freshman Caleb Chase (Hanover, NH) scored his second goal in the past two days on a one-timer from Teisl to put the game away.

Lake Forest will host non-conference opponent Aurora University this Wednesday at 4:00 in a rescheduled game before returning to MWC action next weekend for two more games. The Foresters will host Monmouth College (IL) on Saturday and Illinois College on Sunday in their final regular season league games of the season.
