Walter Echeverry scored the game-winning goal.
LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College men's soccer team knocked off Aurora University 2-1 Wednesday (October 8) in double overtime. The victory gives the Foresters an 8-2-0 overall record and drops Aurora to 5-7-2.

Lake Forest got on the scoreboard first in the 37th minute when senior midfielder Steve Teisl (Chardon, OH/Gilmour Academy) used his head to deflect a restart off the foot of fellow senior midfielder Evan Klaus (Belvedere, CA/Brooks School).

Aurora tied the score at the 64:01 mark and the teams played scoreless soccer for the final 26 minutes of regulation and the first ten-minute overtime period.

A pair of freshman forwards combined for the game winner four minutes into the second overtime. Chris Georgen (St. Louis, MO/Crossroads School) got past the Aurora defense and fed the ball to Walter Echeverry (Glenview, IL/Maine Township East), who put it in the back of the net. Echeverry is now tied for the team lead with six goals and leads the squad with 14 points. It was Georgen's first career assist.

Sophomore goalkeeper Brad Rathe (Deer Park, IL//Lake Zurich) made his first career start and recorded two saves while holding the visitors without a goal in the first period and the first overtime. Freshman Pat Witwicki (Lake Villa, IL/Antioch) surrendered Aurora's only goal of the game but had two saves and earned the victory, giving him a 3-1-0 record on the season.

Lake Forest will play a pair of Midwest Conference games this weekend (October 11-12). The Foresters (8-2-0, 3-1-0 MWC) will host Grinnell College (4-5-1, 2-2-1) Saturday afternoon and will travel to Beloit College (5-4-0, 1-2-0) on Sunday.
