Foresters Fall to 1-3 After Loss to Dominican

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College men's soccer team's record dropped to 1-3 on the season after a 2-1 loss to Dominican University at home on Sunday (September 15). It was the Foresters' second one-goal loss of the season after suffering six such defeats last year.

For the second straight day, Lake Forest was defeated despite attempting more shots than its opponent. After tripling Lawrence's seven shots with 21 of their own on Saturday (September 14), the Foresters out-shot the Stars, 12-9. Both teams had five corner-kick opportunities and committed 11 fouls.

After Erik Elizondo of Dominican scored just 46 seconds into the match, the teams played the rest of the first half and more than 25 minutes of the second without another goal. At 70:59, Forester sophomore midfielderJohn Karner (Gurnee,IL/Warren Township) found the back of the net for the first time this season to tie the score. In the 83rd minute, however, the Stars' Felipe Samaniego scored the game-winner.

Lake Forest's next game is a home match against North Park University on Wednesday (September 18) at 4:30 p.m. The Foresters will take their 1-1 Midwest Conference record to St. Norbert College on Saturday (September 21) for a 3:00 p.m. game against the Green Knights.
