Lake Forest Wins 6-0 at Knox College
Attila Schmidt and Ben Cady each score twice

Galesburg, Ill. – The Forester men’s soccer team shut out Knox College 6-0 on the road on Saturday (September 16). Lake Forest is now 4-0-0 overall and 2-0-0 in Midwest Conference play. The Prairie Fire fell to 0-3-1 overall after their first league game of the season.

The Foresters took the lead early on an unassisted goal by senior Juan Robledo (Chicago, Ill./Kelvyn Park) just 1:43 into the contest. It was Robledo’s second goal of the season. The visitors doubled their lead at 7:33 on a penalty kick goal by junior Josh Enck (Antioch, Ill./Antioch). Junior Attila Schmidt (Akron, Ohio/Western Reserve) was credited with an unassisted goal at 22:25 and senior Walter Echeverry (Glenview, Ill./Maine East) assisted freshman Ben Cady (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear) on Lake Forest’s fourth goal of the half at 35:20.

Schmidt converted a penalty kick at 71:59 for his team-high fourth goal of the season and Cady kicked in his second score of the game off an assist from sophomore Andi Keca (Bloomingdale, Ill./Addison Trail) at 86:08.

Sophomore Sam Malmberg (Concord, N.H./St. Paul's School) played the first 86 minutes of the contest, recorded a pair of saves, and earned the victory in his first action of the season.

Lake Forest will host Concordia University (Ill.) Wednesday (September 20) afternoon at 4:30. The team will then play at defending league champion St. Norbert College Saturday (September 23) at 4:00 p.m.
