Foresters Shake Off Rust and Defeat Carroll College 4-2
Chris Mickschl scores two goals for second time this season

WAUKESHA, WI - They hadn't played a game in ten days but the Lake Forest College men's soccer team still found the back of the net four times in a 4-2 defeat of Carroll College. The Foresters have three wins in as many games this season, including two against Midwest Conference opponents.

The first goal of the game was also the first of the year for sophomore midfielder Phil Schwab (St. Louis, MO/Christian Brothers College H.S.). His score in the 30th minute gave the Foresters the early lead that was erased roughly ten minutes later by Carroll's first goal. The halftime score was 1-1.

Senior forward Chris Mickschl (Glendale, WI/Nicolet) scored twice in the first 15 minutes of the second half to give Lake Forest a 3-1 lead. The goals were his third and fourth of the season and gave him a total of 10 points in just three games so far in 2001. The first Mickschl goal was assisted by sophomore midfielder Evan Klaus (Belvedere, CA/Brooks School) and the second by freshman midfielder John Karner (Gurnee,IL/Warren Township).

After Carroll closed to within one goal, sophomore defender Caleb Chase (Hanover, NH/Vermont Academy) scored the game's final goal in the 75th minute. It was his first goal and first points of the season.

Lake Forest's next game will be a Saturday (September 22nd) evening match-up at Carthage College, beginning at 5:00 pm. Carthage, located less than 30 miles due north of Lake Forest, plays its games on artificial grass, a surface on which the Foresters will be playing for the first time ever.
