Lake Forest and Lawrence Play to 2-2 Tie
Echeverry and Castrejon score for the Foresters

APPLETON, WI - The Lake Forest College men’s soccer team traveled to Lawrence University on Saturday (September 18) and played the Vikings to a 2-2 tie. The Foresters overall record on the year now stands at 4-1-1, with a 2-1-1 mark in Midwest Conference games. Lawrence is now 1-2-2 overall after its league opener.

Sophomore Walter Echeverry (Glenview, IL/Maine Township East) gave the visitors the lad at the 21:34 mark with his first goal of the season. Junior Tino Castrejon (Highwood, IL/Highwood), who assisted on Echeverry’s goal, scored his first of the year as well at 36:27 to put the Foresters ahead by two. Sophomore Michael Watman (Flossmoor, IL/Mount Carmel) and junior Sam Figueroa (Bartlett, IL/Bartlett) were each credited with an assist.

The Vikings got on the scoreboard with just 1:39 remaining in the opening period. They tied the game at the 65:35 mark and neither team was able to score again during regulation or a pair of 10-minute overtime periods.

Freshman Jake Elperine (Highland Park, IL/Lake Forest Academy) saved a career-high 10 shots for the Foresters and is now 2-0-1 on the year.

Lake Forest will play under the lights of Uihlein Soccer Park Tuesday (September 21) night at 7:00 against the Milwaukee School of Engineering. The Foresters will resume league play next weekend (September 25-26) with a game on Saturday at Grinnell College and a contest Sunday afternoon at home against Beloit College.
