Lake Forest Drops Overtime Heartbreaker to St. Norbert
Game’s only goal was scored with 30 second left on the clock

Jacob Elperin recorded eight saves in the game.
LAKE FOREST, IL - Forester men’s soccer team suffered its second consecutive Midwest Conference overtime loss on Sunday (September 18), a 1-0 decision to three-time defending league champion St. Norbert College. Lake Forest fell to 2-2-0 overall and 1-2-0 in MWC play while the Green Knights remain perfect on the year at 5-0-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the conference.

The game was scoreless throughout both 45-minute halves. The only goal of the contest was headed in off a corner kick with just 30 seconds remaining in the 10-minute overtime period. The teams would have played another 10-minute overtime had the first ended without a score.

Lake Forest sophomore goalkeeper Jacob Elperin (Highland Park, IL/Lake Forest Academy) turned away each of the first eight shots on goal he faced in the game. That total is just two shy of his career high, set exactly one year ago against Lawrence University.

The Foresters’ next contest will be Wednesday (September 21) night at Carthage College. The non-conference game is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. Lake Forest will resume league play on Saturday (September 24) at home against Lawrence.
