Foresters Collect Third Straight Win With 4-2 Win Over Carroll
Freshman Dan Carver Scores Two Goals

LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College jumped out to a 4-0 lead and held on for a 4-2 win over visiting Carroll College (WI) on Tuesday in a Midwest Conference men's soccer match-up.

Freshman Dan Carver (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield), in his first action of the season, scored two goals to lead Lake Forest, who won for the third straight game. Carver had been sidelined with an injury. 

The Foresters improved to 3-2-0 overall and 3-1-0 in the MWC. Carroll is 3-3-0 overall and 0-2-0 in league action.

Senior Troy Abeln (Bloomington, MN/Bloomington Kennedy) got Lake Forest on the board early in the contest when he headed in Chris Mickschl's (Glendale, WI/Nicolet) corner kick in the ninth minute. It was Abeln's first goal of the season.

Carver then put together back-to-back scoring strikes within a three minute span. At the 43:00 mark, Carver put in a one-timer, assisted from Jose Valdovinos (Chicago, IL). Two minutes and 52 seconds later Carver again found the back on the net. His second goal of the afternoon proved to be the game winner and was assisted by Philip Schwab (St. Louis, MO/Christian Brothers College). 

Mickschl scored Lake Forest's fourth and final goal in the 55th minute to give the Foresters a 4-0 lead. The goal was assisted by his twin brother, Chad Mickschl (Glendale, WI/Nicolet).

Within just under 25 minutes to play, Carroll's Joe Snyder (assisted from Matt Zidron) put in a one-timer of his own to pull Carroll within three scores. 

In the 85th minute Andy Dyer scored an unassisted goal to make the score 4-2. Lake Forest then re-entered eight starters, including starting goalkeeper Ed Elliott (Decatur, IL/Culver Military Academy (IN)), and held on for the victory.

Elliott did not allow a goal in 48 minutes of action. He had four saves.Adam Nawrocki (Bayside, WI/Nicolet), in 42 minutes of play, gave up two Carroll goals and also had four saves. Carroll's Dan Peplinski snared a game-high eight saves, but surrendered four goals.

Lake Forest out-shot the Pioneers 24-19, including a 15-9 advantage in the first half.

The Foresters will be back in action this Friday (September 22nd) when they host Aurora University. The game will be held in conjunction with Homecoming weekend at Lake Forest.
