Lake Forest Loses Heartbreaker to Defending MWC Champs
St. Norbert scores winning goal with seven seconds left in double-overtime

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College men's soccer team played host to St. Norbert College, the defending Midwest Conference champions, on Saturday (September 20). The Green Knights's goal with just seven seconds remaining in the second 10-minute overtime period gave them the 2-1 victory. The Foresters fell to 4-2-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the MWC. St. Norbert is also 4-2-0 overall and has a 2-0-0 mark in the league.

Neither team was able to score in the first 45-minute period. Lake Forest finally found the back of the net in the 66th minute when freshman forward Walter Echeverry (Glenview, IL/Maine Township East) headed in his team leading fifth goal of the year off a pass from senior midfielder Matt Deimler (Wadsworth, IL/Warren Township).

St. Norbert tied the score with just five minutes left in regulation and then won the game at the 9:53 mark of the second overtime. The Knights out-shot the Foresters 15-10 in the game and had 11 corner kick opportunities while Lake Forest attempted just two. Fifty fouls were called on the teams combined.

The Foresters' next game will be at home on Friday (September 26) against Lawrence University. The MWC match will begin at 4:30 p.m.
