Foresters Win in Overtime at M.S.O.E.
Cochran scores winning goal

MILWAUKEE, WI - The Forester men’s soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to six games Tuesday (September 21) night with a 3-2 overtime victory at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Lake Forest raised its record to 5-1-1 on the season while the Raiders fell to 4-3-2.

The visitors took the early lead on sophomore Walter Echeverry’s (Glenview, IL/Maine Township East) second goal of the year at the game’s 23:31 mark. Echeverry was assisted by sophomore Michael Watman (Flossmoor, IL/Mount Carmel) and junior Tino Castrejon (Highwood, IL/Highwood).

M.S.O.E. tied the score in the 40th minute and took a 2-1 lead at the 63:13 mark.

Lake Forest pulled even with less than six minutes remaining in regulation. Freshman Ben Levy (Lincoln, MA/Lincoln-Sudbury) scored his team-high third goal of the season off Castrejon’s second assist of the game and team-high fourth of the year.

Echeverry assisted senior Andrew Cochran (Bedford, NH/Derryfield School) with the game-winner five minutes and 55 seconds into overtime. Sophomore Pat Witwicki (Lake Villa, IL/Antioch) recorded nine saves to earn the victory and raise his record on the season to 3-1-0.

The Foresters will put their 2-1-1 Midwest Conference record on the line twice this weekend (September 25-26). The team will play at Grinnell College at 1:00 Saturday afternoon and will host Beloit College Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
