Foresters Battle to 1-1 Tie at Carthage
Duke scores third goal of the year

Sam Malmberg had 14 saves in his first career start.
KENOSHA, WI - The Lake Forest College men’s soccer team played to a 1-1 tie at Carthage College Wednesday (September 21) night. The Foresters are now 2-2-1 on the season and the Redmen are 3-3-1.

Lake Forest took the early lead on senior Jon Duke’s (Eugene, OR/Marist) third goal of the season at the game’s 8:20 mark. Sophomore Attila Schmidt (Akron, OH/Western Reserve Academy) recorded the assist, his team-high fourth of the year. Duke and sophomore Seth Byers (Cincinnati, OH/Cincinnati Colerain) are now tied for the team lead with three goals apiece.

Carthage tied the score in the 79th minute and the teams played a pair of scoreless 10-minute overtime periods before the game was ruled a draw.

Forester freshman goalkeeper Sam Malmberg (Concord, NH/St. Paul's School) made his first start of the season and finished with 14 saves.

Lake Forest will resume Midwest Conference play on Saturday (September 24) at home against Lawrence University at 3:30 p.m. The Foresters will enter the contest with a 1-2-0 league record and the Vikings have yet to play a conference game.
