Lake Forest Falls 3-2 to Lawrence
Wade Torgeson scores first career goal

Wade Torgeson scored his first career goal on Saturday.
LAKE FOREST, IL - The Forester men’s soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision at home to Lawrence University on Saturday (September 24). Both teams are now 2-3-1 overall this season. Lake Forest fell to 1-3-0 in Midwest Conference play and the contest was the Vikings’ league opener.

The home team got on the scoreboard first when freshman Wade Torgeson (New Glarus, WI/New Glarus) took a pass from senior Jon Duke (Eugene, OR/Marist) and converted a breakaway opportunity at 38:31. It was Torgeson’s first career goal and Duke’s first assist of the season.

Lawrence tied the score at the 57:59 mark and took its first lead of the game less than eight minutes later.

Duke pulled the Foresters back to even with his team-leading fourth goal of the year at 72:18. Freshman Jovani Villasenor (Highwood, IL/Highland Park) recorded the assist, his first career point.

The Vikings finally scored the game-winner with just 6:42 remaining and Lake Forest was unable to come back again before the clock ran out.

The Foresters out-shot Lawrence 16-7 in the game but were able to get just two of their five shots on goal past the visitors’ goalie. The Vikings had four shots on goal.

Lake Forest will play its next four games against non-conference opponents, beginning with on Wednesday (September 28) at Concordia University (IL) at 4:30 p.m. The Foresters will also host the Milwaukee School of Engineering next Saturday (October 1), Loras College the next afternoon, and Marian College the following Tuesday (October 4).
