Pat Witwicki blanked the opposition in each of his first two collegiate starts.
LAKE FOREST, IL - The Forester men's soccer team recorded a pair of Midwest Conference shutouts over the weekend (September 26-28). On Friday, the squad defeated Lawrence University 1-0 in the pouring rain. Lake Forest stayed dry on Sunday and knocked off Knox College 3-0. The Foresters are now 6-2-0 overall on the season and 3-1-0 in the MWC. Lawrence fell to 3-2-1 overall and 0-1-0 in the league while Knox's record dropped to 2-5-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the conference.

Freshman goalkeeper Pat Witwicki (Lake Villa, IL/Antioch) made the first start of his career on Friday and tallied seven saves to blank the Vikings.

Heavy rains helped prevent either team from putting together many scoring opportunities. The only goal of the game was recorded by Lake Forest junior midfielder Alex Stavropolous (Vernon Hills, IL/ Stevenson) at the 87:20 mark. It was his first score of the season.

The Foresters had one more shot (13-12) than Lawrence but put just four of those attempts on goal.

After a day off, Lake Forest was back out on its home field against Knox on Sunday in much better weather conditions. Witwicki was again solid in front of the net, recording three saves before giving way to the backup at the 77:40 mark.

The Foresters' first goal of the game was scored by senior midfielder Steve Teisl (Chardon, OH/ Gilmour Academy) on a header at the 26:08 mark. Senior defender Reilly O'Connor (North Aurora, IL/Marmion Academy) earned the assist by lofting a beautiful pass over the defense from the right side. Junior forward Andrew Cochran (Bedford, NH/Derryfield School) scored his fifth of the year at 35:27 to give the team a 2-0 lead going into halftime.

Cochran headed in his team-leading sixth goal of the season less than four minutes after intermission off a corner kick from junior midfielder Andy Moore (Geneseo, IL/J.D. Darnall).

Lake Forest out-shot the Prairie Fire 19-5 and defeated Knox for the tenth time in 11 meetings between the two schools.

The Foresters will be back in action on Saturday (October 4) at noon when they host the Milwaukee School of Engineering for homecoming.
