Foresters Get Back to Winning Ways at Concordia
Team ends four-game winless streak

Attila Schmidt lead the 2005 Foresters with 11 points.
RIVER FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College men’s soccer team ended its four-game winless streak with a 2-0 victory at Concordia University (IL) on Wednesday (September 28). The Foresters’ record on the year is now 3-3-1 while the Cougars fell to 2-5-1.

Lake Forest out-shot the home team 9-4 in a scoreless first half and 16-4 after intermission.

The Foresters finally got on the scoreboard in the 74th minute on sophomore Attila Schmidt’s (Akron, OH/Western Reserve Academy) third goal of the season. The unassisted score proved to be the game winner. The visitors tacked on an insurance goal in the 84th minute. Schmidt recorded his team-high fifth assist of the year and senior Sam Figueroa (Bartlett, IL/Bartlett) notched his second on senior Alex Lofgren’s (Glenview, IL/Glenbrook South) first score of the season. Schmidt now leads Lake Forest with 11 points.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jacob Elperin (Highland Park, IL/Lake Forest Academy) recorded five saves in the shutout, his first of his career. He is now 3-2-0 in 2005 with a 0.89 goals against average.

Lake Forest will play a pair of non-conference opponents at home this weekend (October 1-2). The team will host the Milwaukee School of Engineering at 10:00 Saturday morning and Loras College at 2:30 Sunday afternoon.
