Steve Stavropoulos
LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Lake Forest College men’s soccer player Steve Stavropoulos (Vernon Hills, Ill./Stevenson) was named Midwest Conference Offensive Performer of the Week on Monday (September 3) for his performance in the Foresters’ 5-2 victory at Concordia University Chicago on Sunday (September 2).

Lake Forest trailed 2-0 before Stavropoulos, a junior forward, scored his first goal of the contest with 10:11 left in the first half. The Foresters tied the game 90 second later and the score remained knotted until Stavropoulos found the back of the net again in the 57th minute. He completed his first career “hat trick” in the 77th minute to give the visitors a more comfortable two-goal cushion.

It was the first three-goal performance by a Lake Forest player since September 5, 2003, and the third time Stavropoulos has scored more than once in a game in his career.

Midwest Conference Performers of the Week are selected by the league’s sports information director.
