The Foresters’ first goal of the season was scored by sophomore transfer Seth Byers (Cincinnati, OH/Cincinnati Colerain) just 1:57 into the contest. It turned out to be the first half’s only score. The visitors took a 2-0 lead at the 71:41 mark on sophomore Attila Schmidt’s (Akron, OH/Western Reserve Academy) first career goal. He was assisted by freshman Wade Torgeson (New Glarus, WI/New Glarus). The Eagles cut the lead in half just 12 seconds later but were unable to tie the score. Sophomore Jacob Elperin (Highland Park, IL/Lake Forest Academy) started the game in goal for the Foresters and earned the victory. Freshman Sam Malmberg (Concord, NH/St. Paul's School) entered the contest late in the first half and was replaced by Elperin late in the second. Each goalie recorded a pair of saves. Lake Forest out-shot the Eagles 5-2 in the first 45 minutes and 6-5 after intermission. The Foresters also had six corner kick opportunities while allowing Benedictine just one.
