Lake Forest Wins MWC Opener Over Knox 2-1
Chris Mickschl assists both Forester goals

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College men's soccer team opened its 2001 Midwest Conference season with a 2-1 victory over Knox College on Saturday (September 8th). The Foresters raised their overall record to 2-0-0 while the Prairie Fire fell to 0-3-0.

Lake Forest out-shot Knox 7-0 in the first half, but could not find the back of the net with any of their shots. Finally, just less than ten minutes into the second half, senior forward Chris Mickschl (Glendale, WI) assisted sophomore midfielder Steve Teisl (Chardon, OH) on the game's first goal. It was Teisl's second goal of the year and the first assist for Mickschl.

After Knox tied the game a few minutes later, Mickschl recorded his second assist when freshman midfielder Alex Pacheco (Highland Park, IL) scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal with nearly 29 minutes to play. Mickschl now has six points on the season in just two games.

The Foresters attempted 17 shots in the match compared to just five for Knox. The game was also marred by a total of 35 fouls called on the two teams combined.

Lake Forest will continue Midwest Conference play when they host St. Norbert College next Sunday (September 16th) at 3:00 pm.
