Senior broke program record for career wins

Joe Campagna
LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Lake Forest College men’s tennis player Joe Campagna (Elmwood Park, Ill./Fenwick) was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday (April 1) after breaking the program’s career record for victories during an undefeated week.

Campagna, a senior, won twice at #2 doubles and #3 singles in Lake Forest’s 6-3 triumphs over Alma College and host Adrian College on Saturday (March 27). His doubles victory against Adrian raised his program record for career doubles victories to 53 and gave him 101 wins overall, surpassing the mark set by Shane Bell in 2000 and matched by Andrew Fretter last year.

On Wednesday (March 31) the Foresters blanked host Concordia University Chicago 9-0 and Campagna recorded convincing victories at #2 doubles (8-0) and #4 singles (6-0, 6-1).

Campagna is now 7-3 in singles and 10-2 in doubles this season. His 49 career singles wins (against just 19 losses) are the fifth-highest total in school history, eight shy of the team record.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Campagna was also named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday.
