Lake Forest Finishes 3-1 in MWC South after Victory over Knox
Foresters will likely qualify for four-team MWC Championship Tourney

BARRINGTON, Ill. - The Forester men’s tennis team hosted and defeated Knox College 7-2 at the South Barrington Tennis Club Saturday afternoon (April 12). Lake Forest is now 15-3 on the season and finished its Midwest Conference South Division schedule with a 3-1 record. The Prairie Fire fell to 6-7 overall and 1-2 in divisional play.

Lake Forest doubles teams took two of three matches. Freshman Jon Flaksman (Northbrook, Ill./ Glenbrook North) and sophomore Andrew Fretter (Bloomfield, Mich./Cranbrook Kingswood) won 8-2 at #2 and sophomore Joe Campagna (Elmwood Park, Ill./Fenwick) teamed with freshman Chris Paterakos (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) for an 8-0 victory at #3.

The Foresters also won at each of the bottom five spots in the singles lineup. Junior Alex Presman (Deerfield, Ill/Deerfield) prevailed 6-0, 6-2 at #2 and Flaksman raised his singles record on the year to 17-1 with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at #3. Fretter won 6-2, 6-4 at #4, Campagna recorded a 6-3, 6-2 victory at #5, and Paterakos prevailed 6-2, 6-0 at #6.

Lake Forest will host Carthage College on Tuesday (April 15) at 4:00 and will travel to the University of Chicago the next day for a 3:30 contest. The Foresters will close out the regular season at Concordia University Chicago the following Tuesday (April 22) and, barring a significant upset in upcoming league action, will compete in the four-team MWC Championship Tournament on April 25.
