MONMOUTH, IL - The Forester men’s tennis team dropped a pair of 6-1 decisions at Knox College and Monmouth College on Saturday (April 16), ending the squad’s hopes of returning to a second straight Midwest Conference Team Championship Tournament appearance. Lake Forest fell to 4-9 overall and 1-3 in MWC South Division play. Both Knox and Monmouth also defeated Illinois College Saturday and are 2-0 and tied with Grinnell College for first place in the division. The top two teams from each division advance to the championship tournament.

Freshman Dan Otto’s (Austin, TX/St. Stephens) 6-1, 6-4 triumph at number five singles was the Foresters’ only victory of the morning match at Knox.

Sophomore Alex Godin (Northbrook, IL/Glenbrook North) turned in the team’s only win at Monmouth in the afternoon. He prevailed 6-1, 6-3 at number four singles.

Lake Forest has three more dual matches on its regular season schedule, beginning Tuesday (April 19) at 4:00 p.m. when the team hosts Concordia University (IL). The Foresters will then play a pair of matches at Carroll College next Saturday (April 23) against the hosts and UW-Eau Claire.
