Foresters Blank Concordia in Final Home Match of the Year
Team is now 5-9 on the season

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College men’s tennis team defeated Concordia University (IL) 7-0 Tuesday (April 19) in the Foresters’ final home match of the season. The team raised its record to 5-9 on the year while the Cougars fell to 5-4.

Lake Forest started the contest with victories at each of the doubles positions. Junior Nick Sandner (Lake Bluff, IL/Lake Forest) and freshman Brayton Groth (Bloomfield Hill, MI/Cranbrook Kingswood) won 8-5 at number one, juniors Rob Burda (Meridian, ID/Meridian) and Sebastian Bienia (Lemont, IL/Lemont) prevailed 8-4 at number two, and senior Alex Pukshansky (Buffalo Grove, IL/Stevenson) teamed up with freshman Dan Otto (Austin, TX/St. Stephens) for an 8-2 triumph at number three.

In singles, Pukshansky claimed a 6-1, 6-2 victory at number one and Sandner defeated his opponent 6-2, 6-2 at number two. The closest of the singles matches was played at number three, where Godin came out on top of a 6-4, 6-3 decision. Burda is 4-2 on the year at number four singles after his 6-2, 6-0 win and Bienia also moved to 4-2 at number five with a 6-0, 6-2 triumph. Otto is 4-3 in all singles matches this season after a 6-2, 6-0 victory at number six.

The Foresters will conclude their regular season at Carroll College on Saturday (April 23). The team will face UW-Eau Claire to start the day before taking on the hosts. Lake Forest will then finish up the year at the Midwest Conference Singles and Doubles Tournament the following weekend (April 30-May 1).
